Couch to 5k 2013 - W5D3

Couch to 5k Week 5 Day 3
Warm Up - 5 Minutes
Run 7 Minutes, Walk 2 Minutes, Run 5 Minutes, Walk 2 Minutes, Run 7 Minutes - 23 Minutes
Cool Down - 5 Minutes

Ready to get back out there and see how my ankle holds up :)

Warm Up - 5 Minutes (.35)
Run 7 Min., Walk 2 Min., Run 5 Min., Walk 2 Min., Run 7 Min. (2.29)
Cool Down - 5 Minutes (.34)

It went alright.  It was really windy out and I was really nervous about my ankle.  However, my ankle held up okay!  My knee got a little wonky, but I survived.  I had a little bit of trouble pushing myself, though.

Did I mention I got a Garmin???  My brother upgraded, so he "sold" me his old one for a trip to Al's (a debt I have yet to pay).  I really like it so far.  I think it will be even more useful once I am done with the C25K thing and am back to running straight miles.  Soon :)

2013 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5k

Last Sunday was the third time I've run the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5k.  Oddly enough, this is the first time I've blogged about it (I didn't have a blog in 2011 and I left for Europe the next day last year)!  I'm not going to say a whole lot about it, but I will say this: it is a very tough race to run every year.  The course is flat and all, but there are SO MANY PEOPLE walking that you spend half the time weaving and dodging and wasting your energy to avoid running into them.  It just makes it tough.  Anyway, it was my first 5k in a LOOOOONG time, so I was content with how I did.

31:26 isn't a PR, by any means, but it also isn't my worst time either!  I'm content with it and excited to keep it up.  My ankle is giving me some trouble...so we will see how this goes...

Miss Me???

Where have you been, you ask?  Well, since my race on Sunday, I have had my ankle injury flare up a bit (especially with no rest thanks to work...).  I've finally figured out what it is (I think): Posterior Tibial Tendonitis.  After research, it pretty much sounds like what I've got.  I am no doctor and would never claim to be, but this is my best guess.  While I may not actually have tendonitis, the issue is most definitely involving that tendon!

It is really frustrating.  I am just getting back into the place I want to be and I get hurt again.  This time around, I've been being so careful (though maybe not exactly resting when I know I should...).  You know, it is really hard to run when you have a hard enough time walking without your ankle randomly collapsing under you with pain shooting through it.  I even bumped it weird in bed in the middle of the night which woke me right up!  I think I will see if I can dig out my old ankle brace for work today and worry about actually getting some rest tomorrow, perhaps.  We shall see :)

Have a lovely day!

I felt like a BOSS on this run!  It was probably the best run I have had in a long time :)  I went into it, like always, telling myself that I would just take it a little easier because I've been so tired/sore the last few days.  I need to quit doubting myself because I tried to push a little and I felt really good.  We shall see how the race goes on Sunday.

Have a great day!

Couch to 5k 2013 - Switching It Up

Technically, I'm supposed to have done Week 5 Day 2 of the Couch to 5k today.  I, however, have a 5k race on Sunday, so I figured I would switch it up and do a slow little run on the treadmill to see if I can actually keep myself going for an extended period of time anymore.  The plan was to put that sucker on 6 mph and cruise (hopefully) for 2 miles (hopefully).

And?

Warm Up - 5 Minutes - 2 Min. @ 4 mph, 1 Min. @ 4.1 mph, 1 Min. @ 4.2 mph, 1 Min. @ 4.3 mph (.34)
Run 10 Min. @ 6 mph, Run 8 Min. @ 6.1 mph, 2 Min. @ 6.2 mph (2.02)
Cool Down - 5 Minutes - 2 Min. @ 4.3 mph, 1 Min. @ 4.2 mph, 1 Min. @ 4.1 mph, 1 Min. @ 4 mph (.35)

I got a horrible stitch in my right side before I even hit mile one, but I decided to push through it and bump up the speed a tiny bit for last last part.  We shall see how Sunday goes...  :)  A little BodBot work and now I'm headed outside for DAY 4 of yard work (never ending...especially since the previous owners never did anything!!!) before I start 5 days of work in a row (before 1 day off and then 3 more days).  Gotta get what I can done before the rain comes.

Let's do this!!!

Have a great day!!!
